Good afternoon to all our listeners. In this episode we catch up with the fabulous dislabel crew and find out what we enjoy watching on TV. We chat about some unusual hobbies, carol reviews and app called Block Puzzle, and we debut the first of our brand new Talking Tales.

What have you been up to?

Gila 2:01

I have been up to my rock. I have worked four days. But for children go home at 445. So from 44 till 5 we've just been clearing up what for children has been making. And a co-worker had for a flu this week. So I've been actually taking on for ideas and as if for ideas of what do we do. So on Monday we've done baking. On Tuesday can't remember what we've done, but we've done a lot. Yeah.

Jonathan, what kind of week have you had?

Jonathan 3:42

Yeah, I've not been up to an awful lot of things really. I uh I did my bowling with my Bite Main Cat group on Wednesday. My creative writing here. So yeah, it's not been too much been going on so far. You know, it's the week the the year is still early for me, so things will be starting a bit later on, but aside from that, not much.

I like watching Shera. Master Love and Universe. I think that's a good cartoon. Enjoy myself. I like that cartoon a bit. It's a brilliant cartoon, I love it.

He-Man, yeah, and uh the tiger and uh and the lady that's the sword. I think she's brilliant in the cartoon one. I really like it. Cartoon comes on with me on Sky as well. And you can watch it on uh Nexlet and uh Pama Plus.

It's it's good for kids and people to watch it and everybody loves to watch a cartoon of it. I love it. People love it, so I enjoy watching a cartoon of it.

Uh I love the sword when she goes on with the sword. It's it's quite good, I like it. That's what I like about it. Uh Phil, what do you like?

I like I like watching quizzes. Use my use my brain. I like watching I used when I was I used to watch him lockpastes with Bob Honus. Da da da da da da da da da da da da da And they said, Can have a pee, please, Bob? It just made me laugh, you know.

I like um ti I like uh deal or no deal. I like um Tippi Tippin Point and also um Pointless. And someone said me it's pointless watching it. Yeah, I love qu I like to use my brain, you know?

I like to watch Disney movies. Um my favourite uh Disney movies are uh Lady in a tramp and Finding Nemo. I think they're classic and quite entertaining to watch.

I've seen Little Mermaid, but it's not my favourite movie.

What is the Disney bay you like about the Lady Andy Shop? Is it about the dogs you like or is it like the cartoons you like?

I l I like the both dogs, how like my favourite scene is when they're like together and they're eating like um spaghetti and they like and they're about to kiss. I think they do kiss, but I think it's that's quite the romantic part. Do you prefer do you prefer Star Trek or Star Wars?

Jonathan 10:25

Uh well at the at this moment it's got to be Star Trek actually. Star Wars isn't in the best shape these days.

What's your favourite thing about Star Trek?

Jonathan 10:38

I can't really think of any one specific thing about Star Trek that I like more than most other things about it. Uh it's just sort of always been there in my life. I was raised on it ever since birth, pretty much. And it's just always been a big part of my life. And uh in fact, it's always a lot of part of my thinking as well, really. On many occasions I'll think things like, what would you know such and such character do if they were put in that situation, you know, sort of a way trying to help myself out of a situation, you know. That sort of that sort of thing, you know.

Do you have to say being a starting?

Jonathan 11:25

Kirk never said that. It's it's one of it's one of those classic sort of f mistakes that people make. You know, they think they said this, but it it never happened.

What generation of Star Trek do you like the best?

Jonathan 11:48

It'll either be the next generation or maybe Deep Space Nine. It's it's it's a tough one. I I I like most of them, but it's it's tough, but it probably probab it would probably be one of those two right now at least. It changes as as time goes on, really.

Uh what character do you most identify with?

Jonathan 12:13

The character's name is Reg Barclay, because he's uh he's a nervous wreck. And yeah, I've often I've often found him to be the character I most identify with. Uh yeah. He he eventually comes into his own and he becomes more confident, so that would be that would be nice as well.

Jonathan, uh do you like that programme, Black Adder? Do you do you watch that program at all?

Jonathan 12:46

Oh yeah, yeah, I really like Black Adder. Yeah, I've seen those, yeah. Those are really fun. Yeah. I think Black Adder 2 is probably my favourite of the Black Adder series. I like I like Doctor Who, even though it's not in the best condition right now. It's it's it could be worse. It's a bit up and down with Doctor Who, but yeah.

What's your favourite character like villain character from Doctor Who?

Jonathan 13:11

That's a good question. I've thought about it, but I've never been able to think of a definitive answer to that one, really. The Master. The Master's good. Yeah. Daleks are the classic ones. You know, Cybermen, good, you know, there's lots of good ones. Yeah, so just hard to think of a specific one, but yeah, I like a lot of the most famous ones that people like.

Who's your most favourite doctor?

Jonathan 13:37

I don't think I'll ever figure that out for myself, to be honest. I think I could live to be a hundred and still not know.

What would you do if you found the TARDIS in the middle of the field?

Jonathan 13:48

Well, I'd I'd I'd be too nervous to go near it. I'd be tempted, but like, you know, it'll it just be it'd just be a replica, sadly. There is no real TARDIS.

What's going on?

Andrea 14:12

Unusual hobbies. Extreme ironing. This is combined a sports ironing. So basically you have to put yourself somewhere that's quite like a mountain peak. Or on a skateboard or on a roller coaster. Does any what does anybody fancy about that? Well, what I'm ironing.

Havva 14:34

You just put the iron in the in the iron water and then you iron it. Then you don't leave it, it will get burned.

Andrea 14:46

But what are you doing on top of a mountain?

Havva 14:49

On top of the mountain? I've never done it before. I'm just doing the home, doing the ironing, and I burned it. Oh yeah, I burned the mine, I burned the shirt, and I left it on accidentally.

What about a bit of cloud watching?

Havva 15:08

Oh, cloud watching. I would do that.

Andrea 15:11

Tell me about cloud watching, Gila.

Um, I would do cloud watching because I just want to see what's on top of a cloud and see off a little um people down all so you want to sit in a cloud?

Yeah. What do you think cloud watching is, Bill?

Phillip R 15:34

I I just sit outside and what's a cloud.

Andrea 15:37

Yeah. Never done cloud watching before.

Jonathan 15:40

I'm sure most people have at some point in their lives.

Have you ever seen anything quite good in clouds?

Carol 15:45

Different like shapes of like different clouds and what they make out of.

Andrea 15:50

Do you think they're quite relaxing?

SPEAKER_13 15:52

Yes.

Andrea 15:52

Yeah. What about worm charming? Oh my god, worm. So discover the art of attracting worms from the ground using vibration sounds, and then you can captivate them. Give them patience and you can stroke them. No, no, no, no way.

I would um get a vibration out and I would um like dig for worms. And then I would pull one out gently.

Well, you can find an ostrich about somewhere.

Ostrich's in the zoo, they can we can ride them. If they're too big, how are you gonna catch them with the net or with uh with the string? Or they're gonna pull you along. I think you could try and sit in them and race them, maybe. Oh maybe, I can unrace them, they're too big. And they bend down, I can sit on them and ride on it. And kind of shaky, shaky, shaky. And up and down, up and down. Like in front of them, run the mud, blump. Competitive dog grooming. Oh, I like dogs. I like dogs grooming. I I have never had a dog. How do you wash it? How do you clean it?

Andrea 17:38

Well, um, competitive dog grooming is where you can dye the hair, their fair, lots of different patterns, sculpt their coats, um, and you can um basically treat them as a work of art. Have you seen this new thing now with the where um some people um dye their dogs to make them look like pandas?

Havva 18:00

Oh yeah, I've seen them, yes. Yeah, I've seen them.

Andrea 18:03

It's a bit strange, isn't it? But they really do look like pandas.

Havva 18:06

He's a big dog, like a teddy bear.

Yeah, they feel they do feel rough. Oh dear. What about floating?

Havva 18:21

Floating, yeah.

Floating for the ball. Floating, yeah, and some water. It's um surrender your stillness, relax your mind, and escape from the hustle and bustle. What's on about that? Oh, float the ball on the top. You can get you can go to these like they're called sensory tanks. It's like um it's like some kind of meditation where you can.

And today in Talkin' Tales, we've got Abigail who talks about a character called Sylvan and his magic violins.

SPEAKER_05 19:30

On Blooming Street there lived an inventor, Sylvan. He only crafted violins in his apartment on top of his shop and in his shop as well. It was his true passion. But they weren't any ordinary violin. It all started out like this. Sylvan was a keen, great and brilliant violinist when he was younger. It started when he saw violin classes advertised in the newspaper for craft lessons on how to make violins. He did the lessons and learned even to make some of them. Teacher thought Sylvan had more potential and offered him to come to his house for tea. Sylvan was nervous, standing outside of his teacher's house, and finally plucked up the courage and knocked. In he goes, all nervous. Palm swipely sweaty, but all of a sudden he feels at ease. Ravin teacher is playing one of his violins and it's like it's seeping into his brain, like he was having a massage. And the teacher stops and goes, Would you like to learn? Huh? I replied, What happened? Why did the music massage my head? It was heavenly. It's all about the equipment you use and the magic dust you find in the forest. It's easy to come by if it lets you. I'm getting old and if I calculated it right, I'll die in about four months. Working with magic makes you kinda magical. So the teacher called Van taught his student Sylvan. He worked hard with his tools, and when he was done complete violin, he sprinkled it with magic dust on top. Then one day the teacher Van said, It's almost my time, lad. I'm getting quite old. You're invited to the funeral, I made sure of it. I treated you like a son and would like you to respect me back. Don't use the magic in ill ways, it won't get you far.

What inspired the character of Sylvan in the story?

Um I just I see a lot of like good people going bad and like bad people going good and good people. And then like the movie, but you have a new life. teach someone something and then they'll end up making it into something bad or something good. You have like a path you can choose.

Um what would you do if you had a magic violin?

SPEAKER_05 22:13

Oh if I had a magic violin um I'll probably be hospitals like calm down that's right like the help of the patients.

Some of the Starfellan Starfents come down they need a nightmare fixed that very strange very strange What would you do if you had a magic violin, Jonathan?

I don't know, I'd be shocked that such a thing would exist, you know? I'd I'd have to get over it first before I I could think of what to do with it.

What I liked about the story was when she mentioned I got precisely four months to live I think that was the funny bit. Today I will be doing a review about Block Puzzle. It's uh an online game as in an app and you can get it off um Play Store. Um it's based it's like a solving puzzle game where you put blocks there's a square and you have a bunch of uh blocks and you put them together and you have to like try and make a row. Block puzzle is a like a modern version of Tektris but and it has like these um cool features where you can like uh combine blocks and then you get like a score um you can also um you can also do like daily puzzles so like fill in the missing pieces um to try and like fill out the area of the um of the object um it also has like challenges that you can do so right now I'm on level 18 with the challenge I have to um it gives you like a setup of blocks and then there's blocks underneath and you can um you have to try and like combine the blocks in the different areas to get the gems and diamonds and once you've completed that like game you uh move on to the next level. It's uh yeah question do you have to pay for this no it's uh it's free why do you why do you enjoy it um I enjoy it because it involves a lot of like problem solving with blocks and it's very addicting and fun.

If you could rate it out of ten as a game what would you rate it?

Carol 25:53

I probably rate it out of ten out of ten because it's it's a really fun game. I don't know if you heard of the other game but Block Blast basically Block Blast uh it's been going around uh in 2024 and it's also it's like that's also like um the glock puzzle is cut is like that so they're similar but they're different versions and different apps. So how did you hear about this I think about two years ago I was searching for new games to uh play and I found uh this game called Block Puzzle and I started playing it and then I kinda became like addicted to it because it was so fun to play and like um solve new problems and I feel like it's like an educational game because it kind of like it makes your mind solve like puzzles in a way. So yeah.
